The Fashionable Commute

Life is not all about fashion, but I guarantee you'll see a lot of ugly outfits if you take public transit to work in the morning...

Limoncell-OH! my aching head....

alternately titled: CHEESE!! it's what's for dinner
alternately titled: It's not really a party until someone breaks a glass

I hate calling it
"girl's night" but by definition- that's what it was... a warning issued to MB that girls and whine.. and wine and CHEESE!! (<--the actual appropriate spelling..btw)... would be overtaking the tiny apartment in the ghetto last Thursday.

I ran by Cowgirl Creamery during work, and grabbed the goat, sheep, cow triad that makes a good cheese tray...

my picks:

Lambchopper - Cypress Grove
Clisson - Union Laitiere de la Venise Verte
Valdeon - (the eating-man's blue)

there was also a precious 1/2 pc. of Herbiette - the one we ate with the champagne at Maverick that was TDF....

(and when you're there - just for fun - please notice that one of the types of cheese that we're all familar with is really quite shockingly made from WATER BUFFALO MILK!!!)

Mere brought "Brie a'la Suburbaine" (patstry encrusted brie with sugared cherries) I scoffed, then I scarfed....

lots of giggles, stories, and un-edited shares abounded, with some good music too. and please forgotten hangover aside - we can't forget about the 3 bottles of wine happily sipped in succession... along with the obligatory reading of the tasting notes and Mere's total shock that she recognized the particular fruits cited in the notes when in fact she does NOT eat fruit!!!!

We talked travel and trash and before it was all said and done, we sipped (slugged?) shots of limoncello brought back lovingly from vacation by our dear Moose who has been generously sharing with all of her friends :)

then glasswear was broken (yes! by me!! so no real foul... except for the possibility of a pair of wrecked jeans... sorryaboutthat....)

and the night came careening to an end.

Thankfully tho- no one was found Dead in a Ditch and we're all looking forward to the next girl’s night "CHEESE!! It's What's For Dinner" night. Which may... (hint) ... have to include and entire pound of bacon... cooked all at the same time!!!

My Review of WINE FUNNEL

Originally submitted at UncommonGoods

If you don't have time to decant your wine, reach for this quick, effective wine funnel: As you pour your wine through the funnel, it disperses into eight separate streams, causing air bubbles to travel back through to aerate the wine, smooth out the tannic flavor and improve the taste. Meanwhile,...

Pros: Easy To Clean, Attractive Design, Durable, Easy to Use

Best Uses: Home Bar

Describe Yourself: Stylish, Frequent Entertainer, Practical

This is a great tool that I use in conjunction with my decanter - it's saved us from gritty bits in the bottom of our wine glass or missing out on that last delicious sip! I recommend. The only thing i wish was that it fit inside the wine bottle for putting wine back into the bottle... (my decanter has no stopper), or to rest it once you're finished using it. But it would have to have a very skinny stem to do that... I give it a solid A grade.

not a month!

since i last blogged... but close enough, right?

wrong. Because I realized that part of the lack of inspiration to poke around my own blogger 'dashboard' was due to the fact that my folks who have embarked on their annual cruise around the pacific northwest has begun. Some time maybe a couple years back I bugged them that they should do a blog with pics instead of those 14 page email attachments that I never opened or read...

...and while that was good because it was easier for me to read... it's like training your parents how to get the VCR to stop flashing 12 or get them to stop talking out loud to the screen when they're IMing....

I now have taken on - mostly because their first attempts were sooo poorly formatted and while some folks have issues that i am still not able to understand about 'opening images or links in new windows'... most of my folks audience would click to see a bigger pic (out of necessity - not interest in the detail...) and then close it - and be too frustrated searching for where the words went to figure out how to get back in to the blog itself...

So I'm the 'editor' of the blog - and not in that sit at a desk looking at other people's work and make them change everything they stayed up all night creating - no... I'm a copy editor and really even less than that - a formatting and user experience (I know there is a better word for that) editor...

So I take out the nasty gaping spaces between the pictures, odd coding that ends up on the backend of the blog due to their remote/dial up/blogging from the cockpit of the sailboat connection, line up the text, and I'm the queen of target="blank".... And if you work on blogger the way we 'pedestrian' bloggers who don't have domains and wordpress accounts do - you'll know that blogger's preview mode doesn't even match what it looks like when published...

And since my parents really appreciate this I'm willing to take the hit on being inspired here... but we'll see - i went to a party last night - seeing my crazy hairdresser today and next Thursday will be a ruff and tumble wine and cheeeeeese! party at my house - so hopefully there will be tales to tell!

ta ta! stay styin'
